Textiles as protection,Textile as a communication tool.
I imagine Distress Wear as a survival blanket, it allows the wearer to be visible and to transmit a coded luminous message
thanks to the arrangement of woven LEDs. Weaved of urban materials, signage strips, plastics, reflective strips, LEDs, tubes; its patterns are inspired by the sound atmosphere of the city of Tokyo where it was produced.
This piece draws the premises of my textile research which explores the links between weaving and computation of data.
